Glass Terminology
Tempered Glass
It is safety glass.  When it breaks, it breaks in pieces about the size of your fingernail.  If you've ever seen car glass when it breaks, that is tempered glass.
Safety Glass
A safety glass that holds together when broken.
Obscure Glass
Glass that it translucent not transparent. Sometimes called frosted glass.
Insulating Glass
A type of glass used for energy efficiency to make your house more comfortable.
Frameless Glass
A type of shower enclosure that has a minimal frame that uses 3/8 or 1/2 inch glass. Sometimes called Euro Shower Door or Heavy Glass.
Bevel
A cut decoration on the edge of glass.
Store Front Glass
Aluminum framing and glass typically for retail buildings.
Low E Glass
A glass coating that reduces ultraviolet rays that can fade furniture or artwork.  Does not inhibit light.
Argon Gas
An inert gas pumped into an insulting glass to make it more energy efficient.
